Write
For A Living - Writing For
The Internet
These days just about anyone can earn great
money by writing for the
internet. Often when I say this to people, they
immediately think of the junk mail that arrives in their
Inbox everyday – and that’s exactly what I DON’T
mean!
Here is where the jobs are.
All website
owners want to get as much traffic as possible to their
sites, particularly internet marketers. In order to do this,
they need to rank highly by search engines. What this means is that
when somebody looking for their product or service using
a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN will find their
website on page one (ideally!) of the search
results.
To be ranked highly by the search engines, a
website needs to contain quality, original content. The
phrase “Content is King” is often quoted by internet
marketers, who know just how valuable it is to have a
site that is constantly updated with novel
material.
There are different types of content, but it
often takes the form of short articles, like this one,
that will be about the topic and link to the
website. The
article can be posted on the website as a page on its own
right if it contains pertinent information, or it can be
included in a “News” or “Articles”
section.
Many internet marketers will use article
publication and distribution services to get the article
seen by more people, which will generate more links to
their site – another thing the search engines look for
when ranking a site.
Other ways to make money by
writing for a living include ghostwriting information
products (eBooks), blog posts, forum comments, reviews,
biographies, and so on. The opportunities are
growing as the internet, internet marketing businesses,
and web 2.0 (feedback sites) evolve.
The best thing in my opinion about writing for a
living is that you can do it in your own home, in the
hours that suit your lifestyle. It’s great for stay at
home moms, students, retired people, and anyone else who
wants to be their own boss.
